Even though sunshine girls are written in romance books every single time, let’s not forget about the grumpy girls. The girls who answer in monosyllabic words, grunts, or not at all. The girls who have a hard shell but a soft inside. The girls who are scared to let their walls down and protect themselves in their own way. Grumpy girls are my heart and soul, so I decided to mention a few that have stuck with me even after finishing reading their books.
If you’re in the mood to read a sports college romance, pick this one right away.Icebreaker is the most entertaining book I’ve read in a while. One of the best ones I’ve read this year, for sure. It follows Stassie and Nathan who end up meeting after the ice hockey rink closes off for a few months.
Stassie is a figure skater looking toward an Olympic spot, but now that the hockey team is training on the same rink as her… things are not looking good. Especially because of the annoying(ly handsome) hockey captain, Nathan.
Perfect for the holiday season, Tessa Bailey has blessed us with a grumpy girl x sunshine boy romance that will enchant you from the very first page. In this novel, ex-convict Stella wants a second chance. Her second chance appears when she is found staring at a Christmas window display at this department store she loves by the manager. He instantly offers her a position as a window dresser… and funny enough, she has always wanted to do that.
This romantic and steamy novel (because Bailey always delivers on that!) is hilarious and full of emotion which will make you laugh and cry at the same time.
In another fabulous holiday romance, Carla de Guzman writes a rivals-to-lovers story about a baker and a coffee shop owner. When Sari sees the empty space next door to her coffee shop has an owner, she instantly dislikes it.
And then she actually meets the owner, cute baker Gab, and their rivalry is set in stone right then and there. She feels like he’s stealing her customers, her regulars even! But during this holiday season, they’ll realize that maybe all the banter they do is actually flirting in disguise.
But I haven’t forgotten about you, historical romance fans! If you want something fun, romantic as heck, and hilarious with witty dialogue, readThe Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels. It features a young lady who wants nothing more than to be part of the Wisteria Society crime sorority.
But the Society doesn’t think she’s ready yet. Especially because of her past! When the ladies from the Wisteria Society get kidnapped by pirates, Cecilia will take that opportunity to show them all how ready she is to be part of their little group. Maybe the hot pirate (who tried to assassinate her) will help her out on the road.
How about a spooky read? And who better than Harley Laroux when it comes to spooky romances, am I right? Her Soul for Revenge is about a girl who once upon a time survived the worst. She lived. She was supposed to be sacrificed to a God by a creepy cult, but she managed to escape.
But now, she’s back. And she’s ready to make every single person responsible for her pain on that night pay. But before she goes head-to-head with the bad guys, she needs help. That help comes in the form of a sexy demon who wants nothing more than to have her soul.
The only book I haven’t yet read on this list is this one right here.Always Only You is part of the Bergman Brothers series, a romance book series that I love with my whole heart. Liese will always hit you with emotions, so get ready if you decide to start this one.
This book follows Ren, a hockey player, and Frankie, the social media manager of the team. Ren has been crushing on her for a little bit, but he cannot do anything about it because they’re both coworkers in a way. This forbidden love story is going to be a comfort read for you instantly!
